Commodities

The modern commodity markets have their roots in the trading of agricultural products. Going back to past, there were times when products were exchanged between people and barter trading used to take place. The old trend is modified to commodities trading, being regulated on commodities exchange, where they are bought and sold in standardized contracts.

There are three national level commodity exchanges in India, viz.
  •  Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (MCX) , Mumbai
  •  National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange( NCDEX).
  •  Mumbai and National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE) , Ahmedabad.
  •
Commodity trading is just not restricted to agro-products but also includes diversified products like bullion , metals , energy and many more.
